About Arbor Vital

Arbor Vital is a company of tree-loving people based in Boulder, Colorado that provides expert pruning, planting, removal, and consultation. We help our clients, and other tree stewards, make good tree care decisions based on tree biology and nature’s own aesthetics; coordinating a balance between the needs of trees and people. As of November, 2023, Arbor Vital has joined forces with We Love Trees! You can read more about that transition on our blog.

Arbor Vital's clients include homeowners, commercial property owners, HOAs and other tree stewards who recognize the value of healthy, beautiful trees. Our clients enjoy the right trees in the right places; advice from passionate professionals; pleasant and easy fulfillment of requests; and protection for their trees from the high winds and heavy snows of Colorado's Front Range.

Owner/Founder David Schaldach

David was raised in the Wisconsin woods. His father imparted to David his own love of trees, and introduced him to concepts in tree identification, planting, pruning, and woodlot management from an early age. David started working in the tree care industry in San Francisco in the early 90's and was mentored locally by renowned arborist Fred Berkelhammer. David has been an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist since 2003, and opened Arbor Vital Tree Care in 2004.

“David and his crew were incredibly efficient, thorough and reasonably priced. They did some major pruning on a row of elms and ash that border our driveway (and both shade and threaten our car). David's expert pruning resulted in much thicker foliage (and shade!) the very next summer! I honestly didn't realize what a difference good pruning could make to trees we might've otherwise taken out altogether.

The crew was super safety-conscious and did a great clean up job, leaving us with lots of firewood to cure and split as well as mulch for our garden paths. We'll be using them again whenever the need arises.”
